Your mom was a pillar for what a professional nurse was. She taught me so many things. Our trips to the chicklet gum machine was a must after lunch. Her and Dr Chang always "I'm going to win the lotto"banter with each other. I have very fond memories of Ruth. She always spoke of her girls with love and pride. She will always be with you in your heart.

Ruth has been a fine relative these 61 years, a pivotal member of the cadre of kin in the area descended from the Andersons. She was warm and matter-of-fact. I appreciated her professionalism as her cousin, my dad, aged and needed help. He'd had heart issues and procedures. After one, I was helping to care for him as he convalesced, and he was rankling under various strictures that he was to respect and which I reminded him of. Ruth came to our home in her role as nurse and told him he'd do well to appreciate me since the option was going to a rehab place, and he didn't want that, did he? She listened to his heart and said it sounded good, that he'd live for years. That was wonderfully reassuring. Over a decade later, I reminded him of her prognostication and said she'd been right. He agreed. Ruth was a font of family knowledge. Like her mother before her, she had a good memory, a good mind. I am pleased to hear the burr of her voice in her daughter April and to know that her last words to Nancy were "Love you." The obituary was a good one, whoever wrote it. Love to Holly, April, Cindy, Nancy and their families.

I will always remember your mom in her white uniform and nursing cap in the halls of the South Haven Hospital. She was a mentor to so many of us that were wondering if nursing was our career path. Always kind and encouraging, she was the ultimate nurse professional! I am so sad for the loss of your mother as well. No words can really help us as we walk the path without our beloved moms. My prayers are with you all.

Ruth was a truly amazing nurse and dear friend. We worked side by side for many years. She touched so many hearts with her genuine concern and compassion. She walked those hospital hallways caring for the young and old providing comfort and support. Her kindness and empathy Amazing ! May we always honor her service dedication and excellence in nursing she gave at SHCH. Wishing you all feelings of comfort and moments of peace along with beautiful memories of your mom. She will always have a special place in my heart.

So glad I got to see Holly and April so recently. I met your mom in high school. As I told Vandy once, these girls who were long-time friends were so warm and welcoming to us who came along in ninth grade and made us glad to be in the class of 1951! Marian’s Mom, Dorothy Stennett

Ruth was one of my favorite Moms. Our parents knew how to party. NYE was a big deal and they got all dressed up. She helped me so much when my Mom was ill. Ron and I had so much fun with she and Zane in Vegas. They got us the best table and she showed us the gambling ropes. I never saw her move so fast except to find her favorite dealer nor the steely determination in betting her cards. She is the last of them to go but Shelly, Laurie, Holly and I will always carry on as friends. Ty Ruth and all our Moms. We love you!

I feel like I should bring you a casserole. Your mom always did. She was such a pillar to the community in such a strong way. She was one of the "gals" that met with my mom from the late 50s. You won't forget her voice. It'll come to you in quiet moments when you need it the most.
