Beth and I become friends in cellular biology class. I was a very busy single mom and she asked me if I wanted to be friends. I simply said “no, I just don’t have time”. Her tenacity lead to a study group and then cooking things together. Me working on houses while she would make baskets in the yard. She was so talented and smart in many ways.
My favorite memory was when she owned a home in Kalamazoo Michigan. She wanted to put new carpet into it but on a college student budget. I had a truck, she picked out the carpet and we got it home. Needless to say it was now midnight and her and I proceeded to lay the carpet ourselves (no experience) with a knee kicker she rented. We finished laying the carpet around 6:am. It was a night of laughter, complaining and resilience. The carpet turned out beautifully. We slept on it that day!
This was just one of many adventures we had. She and I have remained good friends ever since. I was fortunate and was able to visit her a couple months before she became sick and we both blamed our knee issues on that knee kicker. I will miss our talks and laughter.

Beth was a neighbor 2 doors down from me when I lived on Pucker Street. I remember coming home from work one evening at 9 pm and smelling her cooking maple syrup. She called me over and we sat and talked over her making maple syrup. She a beautiful heart and she had and a love for the Lord. RIP Beth Jesus will come for us soon.
