Elizabeth's Obituary
Elizabeth Marian Wood, born on June 10, 1966, in Ludington, Michigan, completed her heavenly journey on March 7, 2025, at West Woods of Bridgman, Michigan, at the age of 58, of respiratory failure and heart-related issues. The family is grateful to the staff at West Woods and Corewell Hospice who so lovingly cared for her during her 12 days there. Inurnment will be at at Poplar, WI cemetery.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Betty C. (Bergsten) Wood and Robert D. Wood. She is lovingly remembered by her brother David (Brenda) Wood of Tennessee and her sister Heather (Jeffrey) Jones of Minnesota; her niece Esther Jones of Minnesota; and her nephew Josh Jones of Alaska.
Elizabeth graduated from Gull Lake High School, Richland, Michigan, in 1984, and earned her cosmetology license from the American College of Beauty in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 1986. Elizabeth worked at First of America Bank in Kalamazoo from 1985 to 1996, holding roles as a switchboard operator, mailroom clerk, and wire transfer clerk.
She earned an AAS in Pre-Occupational Therapy at Kalamazoo Valley Community College in 1996. In 2000, she graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a BS in Occupational Therapy. Elizabeth worked as an Occupational Therapist from 2000 until 2016 when her health led her to retire from the profession she loved.
Elizabeth’s creativity and resourcefulness were evident in many aspects of her life. She crafted stunning wedding and birthday cakes, wove intricate baskets, thrilled at maple sugaring, and mastered food preservation techniques—specifically canning and dehydrating. Her cherished Hoosier cabinet symbolized her love for these pursuits. Elizabeth often dreamed of embracing the homesteading lifestyle, reflecting her deep appreciation for hard work and self-sufficiency.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her warmth, creativity, independence, and determination. May she find peace in the arms of her Lord, and may those who mourn be comforted by their memories of her indomitable spirit. Memorials to Corewell Health Hospice.
