Being in school with Mike and every time I would run into Wayne after I was always greeted with that friendly welcoming smile. He was a great man and a tribute to the department and the community. My heart and prayers go out to the family, he will be missed by everyone he ever met.

It was a pleasure having Wayne as my mentor, fellow firefighter, and leader for over 20 years. The Chief could be fearless - except for when it came to SNAKES. He will be greatly missed by all. Our thoughts are with Francis and the whole Mattix family.
