I know that I was just your aunt. And the pain your mom and dad are feeling is so much greater. But I swear to God this rips my heart out of my chest every second of every day. As if you were my very own, because you and your siblings do also belong to me. We are a tight family and the bonds of love will never die. The silver string just extends as we hold our end here on earth while you soar in the heavens waiting for us to join you.

A sweet soul has caught an updraft and away he flies like a kite on the wind. And those of us who hold his heartstrings will feel the farewell circling, the pull, the tug of his loyal love. We will know the magic, the beauty, the gentleness of him. The true wonder of this life, for now he is the tides, the trees, the honeysuckle wind, those unbidden moments of joy.
