Margaret's Obituary

Margaret A. Rapp, 87, a lifelong resident of Dowagiac, passed away on Thursday evening, December 26, 2024, in the comfort of her own home surrounded by loved ones.

Margaret was born on November 28, 1937, in Dowagiac, the daughter of the late John and Rose (Alexis) Augusta. On January 14, 1967, she was united in marriage to Daniel F. Rapp.

Margaret, affectionately called “Cricket”, was a woman of remarkable strength, love, and unwavering dedication. Margaret lived a life as full as it was inspiring – a life that touched countless hearts and left behind a legacy of love.

Margaret was a hardworking and determined woman, pouring her passion into every aspect of her life. Her family was her greatest joy, and she embraced her role as a playful and devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She delighted in the laughter and energy of her grand-babies, always ready with open arms. She was proud of the life she built – a life filled with love, LOTS of laughter, and the beauty of her values she could pass on.

One of her greatest joys was learning the art of black ash basket making, a craft she practiced alongside her sisters, and passed on to daughter, and granddaughter. Through her hands, she wove not only beautiful baskets but also memories and bonds that will endure for generations. Rest peacefully, sweet Cricket. You will be missed and never forgotten.

Surviving are her daughter – Christine (Gary) Morseau; four grandchildren – Daniela “Danni” (Brady Courtright) Rapp; Taylor M. (Taylor A. Morseau) Morseau, Steffen Morseau, and Gary II (fiancé, Victoria “Tori” Holtsclaw) Morseau; five great-grandchildren – Presli, Finley, Parker, Kyper and Gary III; sister – Judy Augusta; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband – Daniel Rapp; and four siblings – Mary Lewis, Caroline Augusta, William Augusta and Patricia Wattles.
