We loved John and the whole family. Our children were dear friends. We enjoyed serving together in Awana at Westwood. Enjoyed their visit with us at Beech tree in Grand Haven.

Though I knew him briefly, I admired him. He will be missed.

To Mary Jane, Jeff, and Jenny. I am so sorry for your loss. But your loss is John’s gain. My heart hurts for the deep pain you must bear as you miss your husband and father. I have none but good memories of John. I know one thing for sure. Our Loving Heavenly Father is faithful to carry you through the tough times ahead. His timing is perfect. He will have a card arrive with the perfect words or Bible verse… at just the right time. A song will be sung whose words are a balm to your soul. A picture. A smell. A sunset will bring him right there where you are. And I hope and pray that God will comfort you with these things. The day will come when you see him walking ahead of you only to realize instantly that it isn’t him… tears will choke your throat but how sweet of God to give you that momentary memory of him. I hope you treasure these things and thank the Lord for giving them to you, however brief it may be. Oh, how much He loves you and cares for your grief, your sadness and your joys. I am committed to lift you each in prayer every time our Lord brings you to mind… because He wants me to lift you up to Him at that moment. It’s. Not only my responsibility to pray for you… it’s my privilege! May He comfort you, sustain you, and give you His peace. Lovingly and prayerfully, Barbara Jo Powers
