Heaven gained a great one. My condolences to Barb and the family. I worked for him and Chris Heyn PA for 5 years at Cedarwood. He was well respected and loved by his patients. He was a wonderful Dr. Such good memories. My thoughts and prayers are with Barb and the family.

I had the pleasure to know John for all of my 48-year career at South Shore Health and Racquet Club since he was one of the founding owners. I met him when I went to work at the club a few weeks before it opened in 1976--I'm a lifer! He always had a smile on his face when he came in with a cheery hello. He and Barb played a lot of tennis back in the day and always seemed to be having fun on and off the courts. What a great impact on the twin cities medical community also. Great taste in football to boot -- GO BLUE! My thoughts and prayers are with Beth, Todd and the entire Carter family.

I will never forget the years I spent working at Cedarwood internal medicine with Dr. Carter and four other physicians. They were one of the highlights of my nursing career. It was a wonderful group with Dr. Carter at the helm. All of the staff worked together as a team. We had fun too, the many lunches that we all went to ,and the laughing ,and also the caring attitude he had for his patients. Such a great example of what practicing medicine and caring for patients was all about. His love for his wife and his family was always evident. And his devotion to make the world a better place. Heaven is a better place now with him there. The Lord bless him and keep him. My husband Brad and I would like to give our condolences to his wife Barbara and the entire family.

I grew up with Barb and John as my neighbors from my birth. Wonderful family with such warmth. I know his love lives on with his wife, children and grands.

John was truly a wonderful man. A great doctor, husband, father, and friend. I'm sure John and my dad will be setting up a tee time soon, if you need a tee time in heaven. I will miss seeing John on his morning walks at the beach.

I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Carter from the time I graduated from the University of Michigan School of Nursing in 1979 until he retired. He was one of the physicians who showed me what collaborative practice between nursing and physicians should be! My thoughts and prayers are with his family. The memories we have will keep him close to our hearts!

We were one of the lucky ones to have known and loved Dr. Carter and his family. I wish you peace as you embark on this journey of a life without John’s physical presence in it. I hold you all close to my heart.
