My music experiences with Mrs. Jackson at the piano were formative in my life. I loved walking to her house for my lessons as a child, and when we had recitals, she always made home made bread and it smelled incredible! She taught me so much more than love of music and piano (and later organ). My daughter asked me today what I remembered most about her, and I remember that she always supported my growth and I knew then, that she believed in me. This was such a blessing for me. I am deeply grateful for her nurturing kindness, and skill in helping me to play. I play piano every day for my work still, and Mrs. Jackson's willingness to let me make up my own music as well as share her love of great composers was truly life changing.
I remember also that their family didn't own a car for many years, and they rode bicycles everywhere, and I always wondered how this worked with a tuba in tow?!
Mrs. Jackson changed my life, and I am forever grateful. She was the type of teacher and woman that no doubt leaves behind a long legacy of those who wish to embody her good spirit and approach to teaching. May her family find comfort and love in knowing her good teachings reverberate in so many of us. With love and heartfelt sympathy, Ingrid (Olsen) Ladendorf
