Gussie's Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Gussie Mae Driver, on March 24, 2024. She was 73 years young.

Born on May 4, 1950, in Tyronza, Arkansas. Gussie lived a full and vibrant life. She was the loving wife of David E. Driver, who preceded her nineteen years ago. Together, they raised a family of two children who will forever cherish her memory.

Gussie was preceded in death by her parents Christen Hill, Moses Kelley, and eight siblings.

Gussie is survived by her two children: Shawn Lee Kelley and Dewayne Driver Senior. Also, daughter-in-law Amanda Kelley. Sisters and brothers: Maggie Pullet, Christine Williams, John Kelley, and Eugene (Kimberly) Kelley. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Terrehl Kelley Tierra Kelley, Simone Kelley, Shawn Kelley Junior, and Amari Kelley, one great-grandchild Londynn Kelley, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gussie was a devoted homemaker, who took great pride in caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook and community childcare provider. Known for her delicious meals and her beautiful humorous personality. She enjoyed singing and attending church events.

In her free time, Gussie enjoyed playing card games, computer frog game (Zuma’s Revenge), knitting, and listening to music. She was an avid fan of western movies and television shows. She was also had a talented for making dolls, and arts-n-crafts treasured by her loved ones.

Gussie was a woman of great faith, who attended Family Gospel Church for many years. She was a kind and generous soul who always put others before herself. Her family and friends will remember her for her warm smile, her gentle nature, and her unwavering love.


A Wake for Gussie will be held at Filbrandt Chapel, 1076 S. Bailey Avenue, South Haven, Michigan, on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 11 a.m., until the time of the Funeral Service at 12 p.m. Gussie will be laid to rest at Arlington Hills Cemetery in Bangor, Michigan.

Rest in peace, dear Gussie Mae Driver. You will be forever missed and always remembered.
