Evelyn's Memory Wall
We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of Evelyn here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
I had communicated a few times with Evelyn around the early 2000’s regarding family history. She was gracious and kind and shared some information. She also had mentioned something related to the passage of time. How she remembered when Wes Eichler (my uncle) and her were the ‘young’ family members and how they were then the family elders and in a way how odd of a transition and realization that was. That thought she conveyed has stayed with me in life and meant more as I have aged from a young adult when I heard it to a mom of teens and how fast that transition has occurred.
My mother (Linda) is an Eichler by marriage and has shared in the past that she recalls being handed Evelyn’s mom’s memorial/funeral card (or a similar object shared with family) and it was jarring to be a ‘Linda Eichler’ and being handed an object related to the death of a ‘Linda Eichler’ and the feelings it evoked. I don’t believe my mom had met Linda tons of times previously.
Evelyn seemed proud to share that she had two sons and had shared several facts about each of her two ‘boys’ although they were already grown men during the brief time we communicated a few times.
Bobbie Eichler and Evelyn passed away relatively near each other in time. As their generation closes their days on their legacies the next set of ‘kids’ is becoming the family elders. May we all receive strength during our journeys from those that came before us (like Evelyn) and helped build us. My thoughts go to her immediate family with their loss.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your mother, Roger. She sounds like a great lady! It always hard when they go, even if you know it was time.
