Marcia and Family,
I have many fond memories of working for Doug for a summer while in college. He was very patient with me, willing to teach me a few things and not just let me be the "clean up boy". We had a lot of fun and laughs. It built into a lifetime of friendship and we would always stop and say hello to each other when I was back in Decatur. I also remember he was very kind to my mother and that was very important to me. She loved sitting in front of your "clan". My most sincere condolences to you and your family. His smile will certainly be missed around Decatur.

The Sikkema family were neighbors for years. Doug and Marcia were always kind and fun. Doug brought joy to his family and friends. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

To Marcia and family, I am so sad and sorry to hear of Doug's passing. Toni and I send our thoughts and prayers to all of you at this time. Looking back now at all of my working years, I am grateful to have I had the pleasure to work with both of you and the team at Country Touch Furniture. I have and will always cherish my fond memory's of that time we had together. Especially you and Doug listening to me go over the happenings of my travels on the road at the end of the work week. I have always used the same coin phrase to my crews at work in Lakeland, that Doug would say to me before leaving town each week. He would always say to me to have "Happy Trails" as I would drive away from the shop. Country Touch for sure was my favorite job! Take care all of you and again we send our deepest condolences.

Doug was the first person I met when we moved to Decatur in 1977, he built our house, the English Tutor, at the end of Edger Bergen Drive. I remember him being very nice and very funny. He introduced me to my first friend in Decatur, his niece, Lisa. And then he built his own house across from us and we all were like family. It was so much fun having them as our neighbors. We moved away (in 1983) but always came back to visit Decatur and each time we never missed stopping by to see Doug and Marcia. I will miss Doug, but I am glad he was a part of my (and all of ours) life.
