Condolences to all those who loved Dorwin. I met him when I worked at Lakeshore Public Schools. Dorwin came to many board meetings and during the public comment part of our meetings, he often had remarks to make. To know him is to know he was always interested, sincere, positive, appreciative, and wanted to help spread the good news of the schools. I admired him for choosing to spend time at a monthly school board meeting but he loved education and it showed.

We will miss Dorwin at our monthly Wednesday Men's book club. He was so much fun, always spry and entertaining with witty remarks. He made our book club special. We will always remember his fun loving banter, while missing him immensely.

I met Dorwin when he was a volunteer at the library, and he will be missed. He helped in our children's department and led our Men's book Club. Dorwin was a treat to be around. He always was quick with a smile and so helpful and clever. My deepest sympathies to his family.

To the Nelson Family…. My condolences for your loss. I had Mr. Nelson at South Bend Central for one of my classes back in the late 60s. I was in the last graduating class of South Bend Central high school in 1970 and looked forward as did many of CHS’s students of seeing Mr. Nelson at the CHS all class reunion every year in South Bend, he was a true Central HS icon will be missed, I loved his wit and I always thought he should’ve been in Hollywood plying his talents… rest in peace!

Dorwin is the second of our Wednesday night dinner club that we enjoyed when we were teaching and for several years afterwards. He was always the upbeat, positive one and never had a negative word to say about anyone. He was a treasured friend. Lisa and family, Mary and I will not be able to attend Saturday because of a previous out-of-town commitment but will be there in spirit. Our condolences to the family and RIP dear Dorwin.. Our many adventures and laugh-filled memories will be with us forever.

Uncle Dorwin.. so many fun memories with you. He was a stranger to no one and loved to be in the middle of the action. Always spoke what was on his mind and never ashamed of who he was. You will be missed.
