Carl's Memory Wall
We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of Carl here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
I have strruggled since two days before the memorial service in formulating my Memory Wall comments. It was then I first learned from Jenny that Carl did not pass away some years ago, but quietly withdrew from social contact because of health issues. He was (is) one of my dearest, closest friends ever since we met as fellow faculty at SMC decades ago. Kind and caring were his middle name(s). Couple those traits with his soft-spoken demeanor, he endeared himself to all he met. I will miss him greatly.

Rest in peace, dear brother Carl! You infused our college days with good times and relentless scholarship. We rejoiced to see you wonderfully matched to Jeannie Ritke, and followed your research and publishing with great interest. Fully expecting you to pick up where you left off when you awaken in the great whatever-comes-next for us.

Meeting Carl and his wife a few years back was something my husband and I truly treasured. Looking forward to seeing him again at the resurrection.

It has been an honor to care for and get to know Carl over the past year. Carl quickly became a regular at Stacks in GH a local hot dog spot. The ladies all gave him a brownie just because he was so sweet. Herbies , the boardwalk in GH you could find Carl with a welcoming smile and a hello. He taught me as much as I showed him about life and will be greatly missed. Truly a brilliant individual and had a smile that could light up any room. I'll cherish the memories we shared. His love for his wife is admirable, and his faith remained in the forefront of his mind he never lost his zest and drive to help spread his message. He handles his medical trials with grace and dignity and overcame any obstacle with an optimists spirit. Rest easy dear friend. I'll remember your words and carry them with me until we meet again.
