Cousin Donnie, what a worker he was. A real go-getter all his life. His knowledge, his attitude, workmanship, determination, perseverance—wow. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do or figure out. To me, Donnie was the patriarch of the local Olson cousins. He meant a great deal to his aunts and uncles, too, and was looked up to by his younger cousins. He meant a great deal to Olson Brothers Company and to the South Haven Community. His passing brings sadness to many. His seemingly endless energy, along with marvelous memories of how he lived his life, will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Jane and I give our love and compassion to Janet and the girls and their families. Donnie was a blessing in the lives of many and he will be deeply missed.

It was my pleasure to take care of you Buddy & I’m honored to call you my friend. I will miss you buddy💔 I heard a song on my way to your house on the day you gained your wings and one of The verses said, it’s not what you take with you when you leave this world behind you, it’s what you leave behind you when you go . I know that you left an impression on me that I will never forget and I love you & Janet❤️ Like I promised if Janet ever needs anything, I will be there & I plan on stopping by often to see your family that I love like my own. Remember to talk to Jesus for me, I might need a few good words.

Donald (Donnie to me) had a big impact on my life and left an lasting impression on me from an early age (8 years old) all the way to adulthood. I remember him on the roof at my moms house doing some sort of repair on a skylite window. That was just the sort of thing he would do. When I was 12 he took me water skiing in Lake Michigan. He was an amazing man and I will miss him. My condolences to Janet and the whole family. He will live on in all your hearts Jim Johnson San Diego

To The Olson Family. So sorry for your loss. I was happy to get to know Don as a fellow Kiwanis member and always enjoyed our conversations; and was happy to see him at swim meets when the girls swam. The whole family will be in my prayers.

I have not spent much time with my cousin Donnie since the 60's but he was obviously a very well thought of and civic minded person. He probably got that from his father who was considered by some to be a "prince of a man". It was always a thrill when Donnie would ride up into our driveway on his Whizzer motor bike. Several years later he taught me a lot of things about the work we did. He was always a go-getter. Can't leave out having at least one great family reunion at their house. Our thoughts and prayers are with Janet, the girls, Barbara Jean and Keith, and all of our cousins and extended family at this time of loss.

Donnie was a wonderful person and we enjoyed our friendship with him and with Jannie for many years ! I first met him in 1946 when I was 10 and moved to South Haven! Bert and I had wonderful shared vacations with Donnie and Jannie! A memory is when he had to empty his pockets of all his "tools" before touring the Vatican and then we four had to find our way back to that spot to retrieve them! We will alway remember Donnie with love and smiles! Anne and Bert Herman

Many thoughts and prayers to the Olson Family during this time of mourning. I worked for OBC most of my teen years and learned many valuable lessons from DWO. May God bless you all with His comfort and peace. Rest In Peace, Donnie!

I met Don while working for the City of South Haven back in 1992. We went out for coffee and breakfast several times with some of the other City guys, and Don showed me some of the beautiful homes he was building in the area. He also helped me with projects I was working on for the City at that time. Don was good man!
