What a good and gracious man. Enjoyed his presentation to Kiwanis regarding the many models he built in his line of work. Also enjoyed meeting his before the Fourth of July Parade and hearing his stories of serving in the military. Having him and Leo Cummins as Grand Marshals was a good thing. Glad I had the chance to meet him. Prayers for his family, may God bless the wonderful memories you have of this good man.

Joanie - I am so sorry to learn of your dad's passing. 93 years - a life well lived as is evidenced in the legacy of his children - but still a moment too soon. You are in our thoughts.

Oh what a wonderful man! I'll never forget the Halloween when Joe (masked as an old creepy character & kneeling on our porch), grabbed my hand as I tried to put candy in his bag. Scared the bejeesus out of me. We will all miss him...as we miss Alice. But they're together again so I will smile. Much Love, Joanie & Mark.

Joanie, So very sorry for your loss. I loved to talk to your dad when I came home to visit as we both loved to share flying stories that other folks just couldn't "get". He was truly a fine example of "the greatest generation" and lived his entire life that way. He really did inspire me and his example continues to do so. Hugs to you and your family. Honored to know him and grateful to know that there will be - one more hello".

Sorry to hear of Joe's passing. Worked for fifteen years with Joe on many collaborations through Hamlin-Overton Frame Company. He was a master craftsman that was very knowledgeable and able at passing on those skills of woodworking. I learned a great deal over the years on best practices in the manufacture of various wood displays to pieces of furniture. He was a good friend of my dad who was also in the Air Force during the War and involved in training so they had a kinship that went back a long time. He was a prankster and a great deal of fun to be around. Know that he will be with you wherever you go and understand that his spirit lives on through the many peoples lives he touched, as I am one.

We have known Joe since the late 30s and early 40s. He has dropped by to see us at our summer residence through the years and we have met at the So. Haven Fly Up on many occasions and we would go over old times. We had an occasion this fall to visit him at the hone he was in. We will sorely miss his visits.

My family and I were blessed to have Joe as our next-door neighbor for over nine years. He was a wonderful friend, trusted confidant, expert home improvement consultant, and honorary Grandpa to Matthew and Emily. Joe was a true citizen of South Haven as he was dedicated to our community's growth and development, and to the well-being of all of its citizens. We take comfort in the gratitude we have for Joe's loving and caring presence in our lives, and that he is now reunited in God's Grace with Alice for all eternity. We pray that Joe's family and friends will find peace, solace, and hope in the Promise of The Resurrection. Chris, Sylvia, Matthew, Emily, and Eddie

Dear Mark and Joannie and families, My sincere sympathy to you. Your Dad and the entire family were a big part of my childhood. His trick-or-teat pranks and love of gardening and of course the care of his neighbors made him a very special guy. Keep the memories close to your heart and remember him with laughter. Mark and family, my sincere condolences for the loss of Joe. Joe was a true friend and colleague on the work that we did together on the City Council. I was privileged to serve with Joe for 6 years. He mentored me on the South Haven political scene and helped me to orient to my new responsibilities. I'm proud of the work that Joe, the City Council and I accomplished. It wasn't easy but with lots of help we persevered. Joe was a sold mainstay in staying the course. I've been from knowing Joe and working with him closely. I'm proud to call him a friend. South Haven has lost one of its true champions! Thank you Joe for all the work that you selflessly contributed to the betterment of your beloved South Haven.

Mark and Joan: I was shocked to see that "dad" had passed. He was a true gem of a person. I have so many many memories of him and Alice, stories that they shared about my parents, Cindy, and best of all, I have a Joe Seiler treasure - A handmade quilt rack that was our wedding present. Love you both, and again, so sorry to hear of his passing. God Bless.

Craftsman, Master Gardener, Humorist, and Contributor to the improvement of his city - all these attributes Joe possessed; but most of all, a great friend. How we enjoyed the time spent with Joe and Alice . Trips together, dining out , and competitive games of Rook. Early on in these games, Joe would exclaim, "We're not meshing, Maury ", which was a nice way of saying, "We're losing to Alice and Ginny again." Will treasure these memories forever.

Joe (and Alice) were the best neighbors we could have possibly had, always interested and caring about the people who were lucky enough to be in their lives. We have a few items in our house that Joe made for us and they take on even more significance in tribute to him. Much love to the Seiler family.
