William "Rick" Schewe

William “Rick” Schewe, Jr., 65, of Grand Junction, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Holland Hospital under Hospice care. He was born November 16, 1949 to William Schewe Sr. and Beatrice (Cogswell) Krogel in South Haven.  Rick was a class of 1968 graduate of South Haven High School. He married Alta Marie Brown on February 12, 1972 at the First English Lutheran Church in South Haven. Rick worked at Midwest Timer Services for 46 years until his retirement as Plant Superintendant in 2014 due to his health.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by one son – Benjamin Schewe, sister – Carolyn Zmuda, step father – Bernie Krogel, and nephew – Raymond Scott Gullion.

Rick is survived by his wife of 43 years – Alta Schewe; daughters – Tristy (Jason) Kolden and their sons Elliott, Elijah, Micah, Noah, and Isaac of Byron Center and Julie (Brent) Marczuk and their daughter Lucy and son Nolan of Kentwood; “special” sons – TJ and Abby Schnooberger and their children Lucas and Lillian of Jenison and Andy and Kim Sauber and their daughter Raine of Austin, TX; brothers – Steven (Carol) Schewe  of Pullman and half brother - Eric (Jackie) Schewe of South Haven; nephews – Ryan and Trevor Schewe, Shannon Guillon, Richard Zmuda; best friends – Joe Zmuda, Chuck Gibbs, Larry Deater, and Rodney Packard.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation at 11:00 AM with Pastor Travis Wilson officiating at the church. Rick will be laid to rest at Lacota Cemetery next to his son, Benjamin. Contributions may be made in Rick’s memory to the Schewe family.
