Roy's Obituary
Roy A. Brooks, 85, of South Haven, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community. He was born March 4, 1928 to James Alvie and Minnie (Willis) Brooks in Limedale, Arkansas. Roy worked for Bohn Aluminum and the South Haven Rubber Company. Roy served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He loved gardening, wood working and spending time at the casinos. Roy was a member of the American Legion Post #49.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Roy is survived by his wife – Mildred Frances (Howe) Brooks; children – Judy Raymond of Tylertown, Mississippi, Edie Brooks of Atlanta, Tammy (Mike) Vigansky of Fountain, Michigan, and Tony (Cheryl) Brooks of LaBelle, Florida; siblings – Margie Thomas of Bradenton, Florida, Hazel Smith of Festus, Missouri, and Lavonne (Jimmie) Metcaff of Oregon; Six grandchildren – Andrew, Mark, Tabitha, Tanya, Danielle, and April. Twelve great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home of South Haven. Funeral services will follow visitation with Pastor Theron Crawford officiating at the funeral home. Roy will be laid to rest at Chambers Cemetery, Geneva Township.
