Howard Andrew's Obituary
Howard A. Heavin, 68, of South haven went to meet the Lord on Thursday, February 5 at South Haven Community Hospital.
He was born June 12, 1940 in Columbus, Kansas to L. Howard and Mary (De Pola) Heavin. Howard graduated from South Haven High School in 1958. He then graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree in 1962. Howard served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in France and Germany from 1962 – 1964. Howard married Janice Sievers on Aug. 27, 1960 in South Haven. After the Army, Howard worked for Excel Corporation in Elkhart, Indiana. He then worked at Consumers Energy and Nuclear Management Company, for 34 years, as plant Controller/Accounting Manager of Palisades Nuclear Power Plant in Covert retiring in 2004.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years – Janice Heavin of South Haven, Michigan. Two sons – Todd Andrew (Becky) Heavin of Rochester Hills, Michigan and Vaughn Randal Heavin of South Haven, Michigan. One daughter – Darcy Jo Heavin of South Haven, Michigan. Six grandchildren – Aaron, Andrew, Alexander, Jacob, Joshua and Lauren.
Brother- Bobby Heavin of South Haven, Michigan.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 8 from 4 – 6 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home and Monday, February 9 from 10 – 11 at the Church of Christ. Funeral services will begin Monday at the church at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in South Haven. Memorial contributions can be made to the Church of Christ in South Haven.
