To Gerry's family, All of us who knew Gerry at Al-Van are heartbroken at the news of her death. Gerry was the MOST loyal, dedicated member of the Al-van Board for so many years. We will all miss her sweet smile and her gentle way of adding her views and all of her help. Please accept my most sincere condolences. Elizabeth Miller

Paul~ We really do not know what to say besides we loved Gerry and enjoyed every smile she brought to our facility. We will miss her dearly, she used to sit in her car and go up with the hoist, commenting on how being a bit closer to God never hurt anyone and laugh as we would raise her up. Im glad to know that she is with him, her faith was very strong,. God Bless you and your family~ Ridley Automotive, George, Penny, Allan, Dawn & Family

Paul and Family, We were so sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. She will be so missed. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of the Emmert family apple picking, climbing trees and eating all the fruit I could pick. I enjoyed so much the pictures Mom and Daddy showed me from last time they were at the farm. And I so wish my children could have had to opportunity to know Gerry. They would have loved her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you this week and always. Love to you all. Kyla (Emmert), Tim, Zac and Bekah Tyler

Dear Paul & family, I wanted to send my sympathies to you all on your family's tremendous loss. While it has been many years since I last saw Gerry, I will always remeber her sweet, gentle and kind spirit. As a child, I can still remember her maiking me feel special when she spoke to me; not just a kid that should be "seen and not heard".She had a special way of being able to share her faith by demonstrating it in how she lived and by the way she treated others. The world may have lost a talented and grace-fiilled woman, but heaven gained one. Wishing you all of God's peace and grace during this difficult time. Sincerely, Ben Behrman

Kathy, Paul, Phillip, and Laura, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. In my mind she will always be in her 40's, so it was a real shock to hear of her passing. I'll always remember climbing fruit trees with you guys and eating fresh apples, peaches, and nectarines until I felt sick. Those were very good days. All my best to you and your families. How we take things for granted! I never thought there would be a life without all of your kind family in it. And that is the word that comes to mind when I think of your family - kind. I hadn't been up for so long that it was hard to even remember everyone the last time I came to the Emmert reunion. It was great to return home and that was how you all made me feel. I will always remember you guys as a special part of my childhood. As these sad days move into the past, know that I am thinking of all of you and praying that God's comfort will be with you. May the ache in your hearts be eased by the blessing of Gerry's memory.

What fond memories I have of Gerry. Looking back at memories of teaching Sunday School at the Congregational Church for over 10 years there was one constant-Gerry Rood at the helm! What a wonderful way to begin each Sunday with our youth, starting in our chapel with Gerry at the piano leading favorite children's hymns. I will alwasys think of Gerry when I sing "This Little Light of Mine." What a giving, caring, smart, and talented woman. She will be missed!

I had the honor and pleasure to serve with Gerry on the Al-Van Humane Society Board. Gerry was a kind, dedicated and generous human being; she always had a smile on her face. Our lives are richer for having known her and she will be terribly missed.

I wish to express my sincere condolences to the Rood family. I was in Kathryn`s class in Covert High School and worked in the lab with Mrs. Gerry Rood at South Haven Hospital. I am sure Mrs. Rood will be missed very much, but God knows best! Kathryn, I was in your position the day of my birthday in 2007. I understand your pain, but know you will be fine. Keep your head high!
