Rubin "Tuffy" Jordan

Rubin “Tuffy” Jordan, 86, of Fennville died June 12, 2009 at the Holland Hospice House in Holland.

He was born September 7, 1922 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Truman and Pearl (McCleod) Jordan; and grew up in Hornersville, Missouri. Tuffy served his country from 1941-1945 in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he worked in the anti-aircraft as a sight finder. He married Sylvia Moskowitz on December 24, 1946. Tuffy owned and operated Moskowitz’s Variety Store in Bangor and Fennville for over 60 years. Tuffy was an all around sports enthusiast. Tuffy was an avid bowler for over fifty years in South Haven. He once bowled an 824 series at Blossom Lanes in Benton Harbor. He also was an avid golfer. On May 21st Tuffy had his second career hole-in-one at Winding Creek Golf Club in Holland.

He is preceded in death by two brothers – Thomas and Archie Jordan and by two sisters – Marie Borah and Erna Faye Kraft.

He is survived by his wife – Sylvia Jordan of Fennville, Michigan. One son – Richard D. (Rhonda) Jordan of Sarasota, Florida. Three grandchildren – Mickey (Julie) Jordan, Shayna (Tommy) Joyce and Matthew (Erica) LaGrow. Three great grandchildren – Mason Jordan and Travis and Tyson LaGrow. One sister – Geraldine (Harold) Dunkel of Flushing, Michigan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Graveside services were held Monday, June 15, 2009 at the First Hebrew Congregation Cemetery in South Haven. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Fennville Public School Athletic Department, Fennville Public Library or Holland Hospice.
