1979 to 1983 I had the privilege of workin g on 2 South surgery unit. All the Anesthologist made rounds on their pre-op Patients. Dr. Bieri was one of the most loved Doctors. He had a smile that would light up the unit. Always had a positive attitude, His Patients loved him too. Godβs Blessing to your Family.
Will never forget this Guy, made our work easy. Hope he has a good golf game in Heavenππ»ππ»πβ€οΈ

My prayers are with all who knew and loved Dixon. I so enjoyed working with him and the other Anesthesiologists as an Anesthesiologists' Assistant. He was so assuring and had a wonderful sense of humor-"The Cross-eyed Bear"-he'll know what I mean....Carol McLarty

To Dale and family:
Carmen and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Dixon. I was fortunate to been included in his Friday and Saturday golfing groups when we moved to southwest Michigan. When anyone asked me what my tee time was I always said "When Dixon drives his cart to #1 tee." Dixon will always be remembered as someone who could bring a smile to you face. Dixon and his buddy Gene F. were such characters. I miss seeing him with a big smile on his face sitting in his den (or outside) at hole #3.
We will be planting a tree at POW in his honor.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Some pictures attached also.
It was fun when in town, stopping in to see Dixon and the old P.O.W. gang,
they were there often, every Saturday.

To Dale and family,
So sorry to hear about Dixonβs passing.
My family (Marilyn and John Gersonde) and the Bieriβs, and all
the kids, were close back in the St. Joe days of the 70βs and 80βs.
I remember visiting the house on Brown School Rd. My father and
Dixon were lifelong Point Oβ Woods golfing friends, both members for
over 50 years each. I have so many fond memories of golfing with Dixon at
the Point, and stopping occasionally on the 3rd hole to say hello. Dixon was a great
guy, everyoneβs friend, such a giving person his whole life. And, maybe one of the most popular
and recognized people in St. Joe for the last 50 years, everyone knew him, everyone loved him.
Funny, entertaining, smart, a great story teller, and so giving of his time especially with his
involvement with Hospice later in life. Deep condolences from me and all my siblings,
Eric Gersonde

Dixon Bieri oozed class. He was gentle and kind and welcoming the first day I joined Point in about 1986 when I didn't. know a single member. One year a few of us weren't happy with the direction of the board and we almost threw 3 of his best friends off of it. Nothing changed next time I saw him...same classy friend who wouldn't let country club opinions get in the way of a good friendship.
One year Pat Montroy and I were determined to break the course record for holes played in one day at Point. This ambition lasted about one drink long at the bar when we were informed that Dix and Charlie Duncan had already done it by playing over 8 18's averaging mid 80's each per 18. Knowing that since we could never score that well, we couldn't compress more holes into the long June daylight. So we had another drink to toast them and tried to think of another more reachable goal...
Over the years, he was more and more involved in hospice and when we discussed it, I could feel his passion for such a difficult but important and angelic task, shepherding those he didn't even know across the river. Dix is surely at peace but likely won't Rest In Peace as he will forever be trying to love and serve those in his vicinity. I am a better man for knowing Dixon Bieri.
Sincerely, Tom Gearen

Dr. Bieri was the the kindest person with a great intuition and sense of humor. He was my anesthesiologist through about any surgery I had. During the waiting period before administering the anesthetics he was sitting at the head of my bed in the operating room eating a banana split. He always could me laugh and forget my fears. On one occasion preparing for surgery, he administered the medication, that I was unaware I was allergic to and couldn't say a word. He looked in my eyes and said "You can breathe" ... he just knew and reversed whatever was given me and surgery went on as planned. I was so scared but his confidence got me through everything just fine. I woke up and now he had a milkshake in his hand enjoying it immensely. I trusted him with all my heart and requested him for anything surgical that was needed. He absolutely was the best of the best and I will forever be grateful he was aware enough to realize I was in danger. May he rest in peace with God and all his family. Thank you for everything you did to calm me and keep me alive. You were one in a million and I was one of those million who were fortunate to be his patient. God Bless , Judi Miller (Maruk) Shelson. My sincere sorrow to his family. He was a fine man and Doctor and I think I recall he always wore a cowboy hat :)

Muriel and I are so grateful that Dixon and Lois convinced us to come to the Twin Cities to live and to practice anesthesiology with Dixon at Mercy and Memorial Hospitals. We made many friends and had a life with many blessings for the twenty-some years of our association. Dixon educated us to the colorful history of the area and connected us with many of the friends we now have in the area. For our relationship with Dixon and Lois in that time we are tremendously thankful, and our condolences go out to Dale, Beth, Joe, and Jeff and their families for the loss of Dixon, a great friend and mentor of mine, and a great husband and father to them.

A long time ago over a dozen of us kids in a local sand pit met Doc Bieri and his sons riding dirt bikes. All the kids really liked Dr Bieri. He was type guy that you could call "You meet the nicest people on a Honda". We will never forget the day he rented a big truck and took every kid from that sand pit to ride at the Niles terminals. It was a great day of fun. Rest in peace Doc.
