Colin's Memory Wall
We encourage you to share your most beloved memories of Colin here, so that the family and other loved ones can always see it. Share your favorite stories or comment on those shared by others.
As we grow up we all have expectations for ourselves. Our personal feelings of success ride on whether or not we meet those expectations. Colin wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember and with some fits and starts he achieved his goal. We who knew him were happy for him and admired his intelligence and tenacity.
I am happy to learn that he had a close relationship with his nieces and nephews for he was a good man, engaging, honest and caring. I regret that their time has been cut short.
Good bye "Conan"

Colin has been my friend since my first memories. We grew up across the street from each other on Chippewa Street. I have always felt fortunate that we had such a great group of kids in our neighborhood. We called ourselves the Chippewa Indians. Colin was a founding member. Our parents built us our own baseball field. It was the 1950s and it was great.
I haven’t lived in Buchanan since high school, but Colin always stayed in touch. Back in 1996 when I had some serious surgery Colin called to make sure I was ok. In 2018 when my Mom passed away Colin called to check on me, three times.
I called Colin a couple of weeks ago. I knew his heath was not good and I was calling to talk to my old friend one last time. I was nervous. The conversation started like this:
“Hey Colin”
“Bob, do you know of any good short term investments”.
Wow, as you can tell, Colin’s quick wit and sense of humor never faltered. I know I will miss Colin and think of him often. He was a very special person and friend.
Larry, Gary and Mac and Family please accept my sincere condolences, I am so sorry for your loss.
Sincerely,
Bob Stibbs

I would have to write a book to fully remember Colin. As a friend he was always there for me thru thick and thin regardless of the circumstances, no questions asked-ever. Colin introduced me to reading for pleasure in the 3rd grade. Tom Swift and the Hardy Boys were our go to. I knew he was the smartest kid in class (and the toughest) so I made up my mind to be well read like him, a pass time I still enjoy. Here’s a little of Colins humor. We were in elementary school walking home one day, Colin asked me if I knew what 1585 times 4689 (or something like those numbers) was and of course I didn’t know and he would rattle off some huge sum, I told him he had memorized that and he said you choose the numbers, and kept rattling off answers. After a while it dawned on me he was making all this up, he turned to me and smiled an said “what took you so long”? A prime example of Colin’s humor. He will be missed.
