Dean Kathy,
Sally and I are very sad to learn that Glenn has passed away. My summer life at the West Basin Marina will honestly never be the same. Glenn was a casual acquaintance to me around the Marina for several years, but various social events brought Sally and I together with you and Glenn, and we always enjoyed these times. You and Glenn eventually “swallowed the anchor” to travel extensively, and then we did not see you for a time.
One of my earliest recollections of Glenn, was a chance meeting: It still makes me chuckle and shake my head. One hot summer day I was crawling around on our dock-side sail boat, the Sally Louise, varnishing our “bright work”. It was hot; I was sweating, tired and my knees hurt.
Here came Glenn, walking the dock as he regularly did. He stopped at our bow, and I happily rested on the doghouse for a chat. After a short time, he turned to continue his walk laughingly hollered over his shoulder: “Your teak looks really nice, I love teak… so long as it’s not on my boat!”
Score one for Glenn!
That is how it started. Each of our following meetings, over nearly two decades, became an increasingly friendly mutual tease-fest that peaked during Glenn’s last summer at the West Basin.
Often, I would enter the West Basin lounge area and find Glenn sitting on a comfortable chair reading his newspaper with his beloved dog at his side. This past summer, Glenn was also accompanied by his care-taker and was clearly not well, but he never complained.
Still, as always before, we normally exchanged a few pleasantries and then it would begin. Just after our nice hello’s and before our friendly good-byes, there was a short period of rough and tumble teasing, good-natured banter and competitive “guy-talk”. It was always great fun and I would look forward to seeing Glenn the next time.
Glenn was a unique and special summer friend at the West Basin. I am sad about his passing and I will always remember and miss our fun-filled little meetings there.
Sally and I wish God’s Blessings to, Kathy, and all of your loved ones. May He give you comfort and peace. We can only imagine how much you will miss him.

I was privileged to become a part of Glenn and Kathy's family over 15 years ago and I am so thankful for the many memories we shared together. Glenn's quick wit, humor, generosity, and love for will be greatly missed.

I lived next to Glenn when he resided at Camelot condominiums. He was a good and thoughtful neighbor.
