Willliam "Bill"'s Obituary
Bill was loyal, caring, calm, and hardworking, with a passion for farming all his life.
Bill passed away unexpectedly on June 10, 2024, at his home in Marcellus, MI. He was born May 3, 1964, to Walter J. and Joan M. (Walsh) Mroczek.
He grew up in a large family with three brothers and two sisters on their farm in Decatur, MI, raising corn, cattle, chicken, asparagus, and grapes. From the time Bill could peek over the steering wheel of a John Deere, farming was his passion. He bought his first acres and grapes when he was 16 while still finishing high school and enjoying blazing trails on four-wheelers with friends. Since 1988, he ran the Mroczek Sod Farm with his brothers, Walter and Ray; where his brother, Bob, also helped for several years, and some of his nephews recently joined in the business as well. They worked hard through many sunrises and sunsets, always enjoying the time spent together.
When Bill took time off, he enjoyed fishing on his pontoon, hunting with shooting skills that landed many big bucks, taking care of the family dog, and riding around on his ATV or Gator. He always made time for church and his family. No matter the situation, he was there for his family, ready to lend a hand, whether it was someone in a jam or looking for reassuring guidance, fixing equipment, caring for his mother, or helping his father with a farm project.
Bill was always there for others, truly a great brother and friend, and will be missed in a huge way.
Bill is survived by his siblings, Walter Mroczek, Sandie (Greg) Christopfel, Laura (Rodney) Witten, Robert Mroczek, and Raymond (Cynthia) Mroczek; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Joan Mroczek.
A luncheon and celebration of life for Bill will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 2PM at the Decatur VFW. In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions may be directed to an organization of the donor’s choice.
