Warren's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Warren Lee Tyler, from Watervliet, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who left this earth on July 15th, 2024 at the age of 83 to take his place in heaven.
Warren was born on May 13, 1941, the son of Charles Raymond Tyler and Norma Laurette Tyler, in Muskegon, Michigan. Warren graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1959. After graduating, he met the love of his life, Barbara Jean Wagner, at Napier Parkview Baptist Church, whom he married on September 30, 1960. Early in his life, he was employed at Whirlpool, the Watervliet Community Hospital, and the Naples Fire Department. Warren was a devoted employee at Klett Construction, where he had a 25-year-long career as a member of the Teamsters Union before his retirement in 2002.
Warren lived his life with the same mentality he had when he was racing, “If you lift, you lose.” He always wanted to keep his foot on the gas. He enjoyed camping, boating, racing, traveling, restoring classic cars, and spending time with friends and family. His greatest joy came from raising his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with the same work ethic that he embodied throughout his life. Warren and Barb raised their three children, Daniel, Deanne, and Darren, in Watervliet, Michigan, where all children would eventually graduate from Watervliet High School. Warren was a member of the Lions Club, Southwest Michigan Car Club (SMCC), Jaycees, the Southwest Michigan Rod Knockers, the Blossomland Vagabond Campers, and the Grape Country Model A Club.
Warren was preceded in death by his mother, Norma (2014), his father, Charles (1989), and his sister-in-law, Virginia (2019). He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his brother Marvin, brother Norman (wife Ilene), sister Anette (husband John Snyder), and sister Charlene (husband Jerry Barnard); his son, Daniel (wife Char), his daughter Deanne, and his son Darren (wife Kathy); his grandchildren, James (wife Jessica), Kylie, and Mitchell; and his great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Preston. A celebration of life will be held at the Coloma FOP Lodge at 3470 Angling Rd. Coloma, MI 49038 from 1:00-4:00 PM on Sunday, August 18th. In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you leave your favorite memory of Warren www.heritage-chapel.com.
