Warren was born July 8, 1923 in Stevensville to August & Alma Kramp. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School and soon after enlisted in the United States Army, serving our country during WWII in the Pacific Theater. On November 25, 1950, he married the former Norma Kutschinski at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor. Warren & Norma were members there until they left to start Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, now Beautiful Savior. He was an active member there, singing in the choir, serving on various boards & committees, and rarely missing a Sunday. Warren retired as a mail carrier for the Benton Harbor Post Office. He was known by his customers as “The Whistling Mailman” always whistling as he delivered to them on his route at the Fairplain Plaza and Plaza Manor apartments, retiring in 1980 after thirty-plus years of employment.
Warren volunteered at The Lighthouse Attic and had the privilege of taking the Honor Flight to Washington DC and also had been recognized for his service by Lest We Forget and in local parades .
In his free time, he enjoyed tending to his yard and vegetable garden, fishing the area inland lakes with his wife, Lake Michigan with his son Larry, bus trips with the St Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center, and most recently the time spent living at Whitcomb Towers where he regularly won Bingo.
Warren is survived by his three sons-Larry of St. Joseph & Duane (Nada) of Stevensville, Roger (Beth) of Neenah, WI; six grandchildren-Shelley (Michael) Grissom, Peter (Michelle) Kramp, Erik Kramp, Megan (Mauricio) Spain, Amie Kramp, Laura (Jeremiah) Martin; six great-grandchildren- Isaiah, Joseph (Gabby), Lilly, Justin, Matthias and Baby Martin due on or about May 18th; and numerous nieces & nephews.
