Floyd Thomas “Tom” Hollingsworth, Jr., 53, of Buchanan, (soon to be Florida) passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, unexpectedly at home.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 11 am – 1 pm on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan, MI. A time of sharing will follow at 1 pm, also at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Tom’s name may be made to the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan. Tom was born on April 23, 1970, to Floyd, Sr. and Vickie (Whitaker) Hollingsworth in Buchanan. He graduated from Galien High School, class of 1989. Professionally, Tom worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, most recently serving at Sunbelt Rentals in Elkhart. On August 27, 2005, he married Diane Lutes.
Tom loved cars, whether it was working on them or attending car shows or races, they were a strong passion in his life. He was incredibly knowledgeable in many trades and seemed to have a solution to any problem. There was never a project he was afraid to take on. Tom also enjoyed the beach and being around water. Most of all, Tom had a fierce love for his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was the happiest spending time with them, reminiscing, often over a Jack and Coke.
Tom is survived by his wife, Diane Hollingsworth; children, Tyler (Misty) Hollingsworth, Kara (Bryce) Whelchel, Brooke (Marty) Ward, Nathan Hollingsworth, Tyler Paluzzi and Gage Reese; grandchildren, Aleah & Landon Hollingsworth, Adrianna & Parker Whelchel, Jackson & Kasen Ward; mother, Vickie (Paul Smallmon) Hollingsworth; mother-in-law, Vicki (David) Parmelee; sisters, Barbara Hollingsworth, Tina (Kevin) Singleton and dogs, Jasper & Izzy. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Thomas Hollingsworth, Sr.
