Thomas's Obituary
Thomas Palmore Jr., 69, of South Haven passed away Friday, July 12, 2024. Born on May 18, 1955 in South Haven to Thomas Sr. and Thomasina Palmore.
Thomas is survived by his son, William Palmore; cousins, Krin [Rafaella Doggett] Loa, Leroy Harris, Diane Michaels, Lynn, Pat Powell, Ava, Anita, Stephen Harris, Brian Harris and Ed Harris Jr.; and extended family, Marquis Harrell, Rebecca Galvan, Alexus Smith, Keyona Smith, Romello Epperson and Royal Epperson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sr. and Thomasina Palmore, and cousin, Abe Harris.
Thomas was a very strong-willed and loving person who, from a young age, fell in love with sports, baseball being his first love, then later in life football and basketball. He graduated in 1973 from South Haven High School where he excelled in both football and basketball. Thomas earned four varsity letters in football and basketball, leading the Rams to the state quarterfinals that year. He then went on to Davenport College where he was selected as one of the outstanding collegiate athletes of America in 1974. After graduating from college with a Master’s Degree, Thomas worked for the City of South Haven for over 20 years. During that time, he was given a special award in 1996 by the South Haven City Council for saving the life of a young boy. In May 2020, he had the honor of being inducted into the South Haven Hall of Fame for his outstanding sports achievements during his high school years.
A wake will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Filbrandt Chapel, 1076 S. Bailey Ave, South Haven, Michigan 49090 from 12 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Pastor Henry Allen will officiate.
