Terry's Obituary
Terrence (Terry) Reynald Wood affectionately known as Woody, age 67 passed away peacefully February 5, 2025 at West Woods of Niles. He was born October 28, 1957 in Niles, Michigan to the late Jerome (Jidge) and Lucia Wood. Terry is a 1976 Niles High School graduate and Western Michigan University. He retired after 40 plus years from Niles Steel Tank Company which was a former generational family business.
He is survived by his brother Robert (Janet) Wood, nieces Jennifer (Matt) Anseth, Bethany (Chris) Chiaramonte, nephew Eric (Michaela) Wood and several grand nieces and nephews. In 1982, he wed the love of his life Roxanne Woods who he met at his father’s company and she was smitten the first time she saw him. She was tragically murdered in 1987, the year they were going to start their family, altering the course of his life forever. Terry carried a heavy burden no one should ever have had to endure until the solving of the case in 2022. In 1995 he wed the late Debra Rhine Wood who he shared a long life with until her death in 2024 which was another great loss to him. They both loved all their pets over the years and hosted the many ‘pool days’ making sure everyone felt welcome and had a great time.
Terry will be remembered by his family and the many friends he all cherished; Especially his close lifelong friendship with Greg and Sandy Gentry who stood by his side until the very end, unwavering in their support. He had a great sense of humor, a quick wit and would help any person in need. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and loved making the many trips and memories to his second home on the river at his beloved Belize. Rest easy Terry, you finally have the true peace you so deserve.
We’d like to thank West Woods of Niles nursing staff who cared for him and Gentiva Hospice nurses for their compassion and care of Terry.
There will be no public services at this time.
It would be a huge honor of Terry to consider donations to his alma mater Western Michigan University: Cold Case program with Michigan State Police who played a critical role in helping solve Roxanne's murder. He was Bronco proud. Please see the memorial link below to donate in his memory.
