Stan The Man's Obituary

Stanley Bronek Klimczak, 85, of Dowagiac, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at his home in Dowagiac.

The family will receive guests from 2pm-5pm, Sunday, December 15, 2024 at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. A celebration of Stan’s life will be held at 12pm, Monday, December 16, 2024 at the funeral home, proceeding to Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles, for committal. Memorial contributions may be given to the Dowagiac Athletic Boosters, 701 W. Prairie Ronde, Dowagiac, MI 49047.

Stan was born April 30, 1939 in Poland to Thomas and Josephine (Wolczak) Klimczak. He moved to the states with his family when he was young, completing school and eventually marrying the love of his life, Donna Pierce, on April 16, 1966 in Dowagiac. He worked for Ameriwood for many years as a warehouse supervisor until his retirement. Throughout his life, Stan was known as “The Man.” Whether it was his amazing sales during 50/50 raffles or his many years of coaching and supporting Dowagiac athletics, you could always find Stan cheering on any and all local sports clubs. If Stan was interested in something, he would become a master at it. He was a talented bowler, almost going professional; he learned to golf and took up running and became the best he possibly could. It was his competitive nature that impressed all who knew him. He worked hard, especially when it came to his family – always helping with anything at any time. He was a diehard Notre Dame fan, but nothing compared to the commitment he had for Dowagiac athletics.

Stan will be missed by his wife, Donna Klimczak; his children, Connie (David) Sprinkle, Sheri (Matthew) Ressler, and Brian (Missy) Klimczak; his grandchildren, Chelsea (John) Kocsis, Kennedy Klimczak, William Ressler, Davis Klimczak, and Madilynn Ressler; his great grandchildren, John, Tanner, Amelia, and Briar; and his sister, Helen Ludwig.

He is preceded in death by his siblings, Joe Klimczak, John Klimczak, Walt Klimczak, and Tom (Janet) Klimczak; and his parents.
