Sheila Bavido, with her husband, Sam Bavido by her side, passed away on February 2, 2025.
A private ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel in St. Joseph, with Fr. Jack Pfiffer officiating. No visitation will be held. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am at St. John Catholic Church in Benton Harbor with a luncheon to follow at The Rose Center in St. Joseph. Sheila was born on February 27, 1935, to Alphonse and Lucille Adent in Chicago. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1952, then attended Michigan State University and the Ray-Vogue School of Fashion in Chicago. In 1953, she and her mother opened Adent’s Bridal Shop, which she and her husband purchased from her mother in August 1973. A respected member of the community, she dressed generations of brides, bridal parties, and pageant queens with care and dedication until her retirement in 2003.
She was a devoted Michigan State fan, always cheering on the Spartans. An accomplished knitter, she created beautiful handmade pieces for family and friends. She was also an incredible home cook, mastering Italian dishes passed down by her mother-in-law, which became family favorites. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed helping establish St. Roosevelts in Stevensville.
Sheila is survived by her husband, Sam of St. Joseph; son, Brian and daughter-in-law, Melissa; her granddaughter, Stella; her sister, Bernadette Caropepe and brother, Jim and MaryAnne Adent. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and Lucille Adent and her sisters, Connie Nuccio and Elizabeth Tomaszewski.
