Sharon Faye Cairns, 73, of Dowagiac, passed away after a long illness, Wednesday, March 19, 2025
Sharon’s Celebration of Life Service will take place at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 24th, at Michiana Church of Christ, 500 E. Prairie Ronde St., Dowagiac. Pastor Justin Shepard will officiate. Sharon was born July 17, 1951, in Niles, MI to Arnold Emil and Helen Laverne (Bell) Garrelts. She graduated from Dowagiac High School and went on to receive her Associate’s degree in Arts from Southwestern Michigan College. She married George Cairns on September 16, 2004 and they spent 20 beautiful years together.
Sharon will be missed by her husband, George; daughters – Andrea Anders, Shelly (Bobby) Gordon and Kirsten (Jesse) Gross; grandchildren – Jessica (Adam) Galaske, Emily (Kyle) Schten, Sage and Trenton Gordon, Cassie Gross, Meadow (Edward) Armstrong, James (Allissa) Gross, Thomas (Nicole) Gross, and Alexzander K. Anders; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers – Arnold W. (Barbara) Garrelts, David O. (Judy) Garrelts and Alan “Lumpy” (Stephanie) Garrelts; and sister – Kyle (Glen) Syx. She was preceded in death by her parents and great-granddaughter.
Sharon will be remembered as a loving mother, wife and woman of faith. Her fondness for the warmth and the sunny beaches of Florida, St. Martin and Hawaii during her many vacations will forever be remembered.
