Scott's Obituary
Entering this world on October 21, 1974 in Berrien Center, Scott earned the nickname “Hot Rod” courtesy of his life on at least four wheels. Born with Spina Bifida, he outlived many doctors' suggestions on his expected lifetime with a host of surgeries and hospital stays that only helped shape his personality into an infectious one that took over a room the moment he rolled in.
Early on in life, Scott began participating with We Can Ride 4-H Club, building a bond with horses that understood the good in his heart and allowing him to volunteer for the organization into adulthood.
A 1994 graduate of Eau Claire High School, Scott loved cheering on the football team from the sidelines and remained a diehard fan long after. It was courtesy of football and NASCAR that allowed Scott and his dad to strengthen their already incredibly close bond the most - becoming each other's best friends while yelling at the TV each weekend when something for their NFL team or NASCAR driver didn’t go their way.
While his life was anything but ordinary, Scott had an amazing skill of making friends no matter where he went - something he continued until the very end.
Surviving are his mom, Mary of Eau Claire; brothers Todd of Dowagiac, Mark (Teresa) of Mills River, North Carolina; and sister Sarah of Eau Claire; nephew & nieces Tyler, Ryleigh, and Madison Spoonholtz of Mills River, North Carolina; Uncles Edward Hicks of Eau Claire, and Richard “Dick” Spoonholtz of Des Moines, Iowa; and Aunts Joy Reinert and Helen Spoonholtz of Iowa; and a host of cousins and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Lloyd Spoonholtz; grandparents Willie and Ila Spoonholtz & Cecil and Alice Preston; Aunt & Uncles Mary Louise & Leroy Vertz, Opal & Gaylord Munyon, Jay & Georgia Spoonhaltz, Carol Jean Goddard, Donna Hicks and Wilbert Reinert, Jr.
We, the family, would like to thank the amazing Clement Teo & the team at LADD Inc. for the loving care and friendship given to Scott over the years.
