Scott's Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Scott Thomas DeSenzio announces his passing on March 8, 2025, at the age of 67, after showing remarkable strength throughout his battle with cancer. Scott passed peacefully at Hanson Hospice Center in St. Joseph, MI, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on October 18, 1957, in St. Joseph, MI, to Ray and Jeanne DeSenzio, Scott was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph growing up with his brother Don DeSenzio. He attended St. Joseph High School and soon after spent 30 years working at Vail Rubber, followed by working as a handyman and building relationship with many local residents.

Scott was a loving and faithful husband to his wife, Tonda (Huebner) DeSenzio, with whom he shared almost 42 wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted father to two daughters, Alli Hedgepeth (and husband Travis) and Katie Lefon (and husband Darrell), and a cherished grandpa to his four grandchildren, Garrett, Lincoln, Lily, and Jordyn.

In his free time, Scott enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing guitar, and maintaining his yard and home. He was known for his kind heart, awful Dad jokes, and love for his family. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Scott is survived by his wife, mother, brother, children and grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on March 15, 2025, at 10:30 AM until 12:30 PM at Sarrett Nature Center, 2300 N Benton Center Rd, Benton Harbor in the Jordan Tatter Great Room. We will begin by honoring Scott’s life and spend the remaining time in fellowship, allowing friends and family opportunity to spend time sharing memories and showing support to one another. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hanson Hospice Center or the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan in Scott’s memory.
