Big Mama's Obituary

Roseanna ‘BigMama’ Bronson, aged 103, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on February 7, 2025, in Covert, MI. Born on August 23, 1921, Roseanna was known for her warm, friendly demeanor and deep love for Christ.

Throughout her life, Rose was a dedicated baker, having spent many years crafting delicious treats at McKenzie/Golden Brown Bakery. Her passion for baking extended into her personal life where she delighted family and friends with her homemade Pound Cakes, Sweet Potato and Egg Pies. She enjoyed making homemade French fries and rice, loaded with sugar and butter for the kids in the house.

BigMama was a cherished member of Mt. Calvary MB Church in Pullman, MI, where she served for years alongside her husband the late Rev. William Bronson, Sr. and most current Pastor Charles Knox.

She leaves behind a legacy that spans six generations including 2 children: William Bronson, Jr, and Johnny Bronson, 35 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, 40 great-great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great grandchildren, her sister Ivarria and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends, a testament to her loving and nurturing spirit.

BigMama was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. William Bronson Sr., daughters, Simadie Anderson and Willa Ve LaVondo, Son, James ‘Earl’ Bronson, grandsons, Cossie Beason, Calvin Sr., and Antwyne Sr., great-great-grandson, Elijah Lewis. Also preceded by 4 brothers: Henry McKinzie, James ‘Bud’ McKinzie, Darnell McKinzie, Homer McKinzie, 4 sisters: Katie Seals, Earnestine McKinzie, and Anita McKinzie.

She continued to hold her post, love and encourage her family and friends until she uttered her last words, “I made it in!”.

A Wake for Roseanna will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 11 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 12 p.m. at Lily of the Valley Church, 30600 M-140 Covert, Michigan 49043. Pastor Charles Knox will officiate. Big Mama will be laid to rest at Lee Twp. Cemetery.
