Ronald's Obituary
Ronald Enos Rowe, 86, of Coloma, passed away on Friday December 22, 2023 at Corewell Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, surrounded by his loving wife Darleen and family. He was born on December 5, 1937 in Muskegon Michigan, to the late Enos and Edna (Stauffer) Rowe.
Ron graduated High School from Muskegon Sr. High School in 1956. From there he enlisted into The United States AirForce in Oct of 1956, and served for four years. After leaving the military Ron attended and graduated from Muskegon Community College. He then attended Western Michigan University and graduated with his bachelor’s in social work. In 1963 Ron married the love of his life Darleen Steele. After graduation they moved to Coloma.
Many of Ron’s friends will remember him for his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He had a love for music, he sang with the UMC choir, the LMC choir, The Misfits and the Dreamers. Ron was an avid University of Michigan, Lions, and Piston’s fan. He loved sports, golf, tennis, pickleball, basketball and softball. He was active in the United Methodist Church and served as Lay Leader. After retirement Ron served as the crossing guard for the Coloma Community Schools. He spent many hours in the fruit orchards and tending to his gardens at home.
Ron is survived by his wife of 60 years, Darleen (Steele) Rowe; his children, Steven Rowe, and Denise Rowe; his grandchildren, Ryan Berry (Briana Watson and boys), Rae’vin Whitfield, and Elissa (Michael) Case; his greatgrandchildren, Everlee and Swaizee Case and Rian Berry; his sister, Patricia (the late Jim) Schaefer; his sister-in-law, Cynthia (David) Spyke; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation with the family will be held at the Coloma United Methodist Church, 144 S. Church St. Coloma on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 11am-12pm. A celebration of Ron’s life will follow from 12pm-1pm at church. Memorial Contributions may be given to Coloma United Methodist Church.
