Roman's Obituary

Roman A. Machurick, 91, of Berrien Springs, MI passed away in his home on Friday-March 11, 2022. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heritage Chapel – 8747 US 31, Berrien Springs, MI.

Roman was born on November 12, 1930 in Lena, WI to the late John and Lucille (Oleske) Machurick. On June 27, 1981 in Buchanan, MI he married Donna Jean Fordt; she preceded him in death on October 27, 2019. Roman owned and operated his own business, serving Berrien County as a ceramic tile setter for 53 years – United Tile & Terrazzo. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Berrien Springs, a member of the Knights of Columbus in Niles, and a life member of the Moose Club International. Roman also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Roman is survived by his three daughters – Sandra (Bill deceased) Schaefer, Diana Schmaltz and LuAnn (Mark) Nicol; grandchildren – Monica (Paul) Brockway, Kirsten Schaefer, Brandon Schaefer, Dawn (Michelle) Hopkins, Raschel Harbison, Kristi Swice, Derek Nicol, Laura (Garrett) Zick and Steven Machurick; great grandchildren – Micaela, Aiden, Jaxon, Mackenzie, Jayden, Luca, Sage, Aubrey, Rosalie, Isla and Samuel; step-children – Dr. Tamara Eaton, Dawn (Tom) Ginter, Jr. and James (Stacey) Kliemann; step-grandchildren – Ashley, Joshua and Noah; a sister – Rose Marie Kwaterski; a brother – Jerry (Pat) Machurick; and numerous nieces and nephews. Roman is preceded in death by a son – Tonie, a daughter – Tamie, and a granddaughter – Darcie Vugrinovich, and his ex-wife/mother of his children-Donna Conrad.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Sat.-March 19, 11:00am, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church (429 Rosehill Rd., Berrien Springs, MI) with Father Leo Cartagena officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family is on Friday-March 18, from 5:00-7:00pm, Rosary at 7:00pm, at the Heritage Chapel in Berrien Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gabriel Catholic Church and sent to C/O St. Anthony’s Catholic Church-509 W. 4th Street, Buchanan, MI 49107.
