Robert Lee's Obituary
Robert Lee Outly was born September 3, 1952 in Chicago, IL and departed this life for his final resting place on April 13, 2025. Robert attended elementary school in Chicago and completed his secondary education in Detroit, MI where he was active in music and JROTC, achieving Cadet Staff Sergeant First Class ranking.
He completed two years of college with a focus in finance. Robert was a music enthusiast and an accomplished guitar player performing with Motown’s recording group ‘The Original’s’ in the mid 1970’s. He later played with numerous local bands in the Benton Harbor, Niles, and Lakeshore area and was never without one of his many guitars.
Robert worked in the credit collections field as a resident of Niles, MI and in his later years provided semi- and private music lessons to young adults specializing in guitar. He was a member of the Highland Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church where he directed the choir for several years. Robert remained active performing in bands and teaching music until sadly a stroke prevented his ability to continue.
Robert was known to be a talented, witty, polite, intelligent and avid reader of history. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends and is survived by two sisters, two brothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
