Robert Lee Hurd, Sr., 67, of Decatur, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in Kalamazoo.
The family will receive guests from 12-3pm, Monday, December 27, 2021 at Newell Chapel, 83313 M51, Decatur. Burial immediately to follow at Harrison Cemetery, Decatur. Memorial contributions may be given to the family to assist in funeral expenses.
Robert was born January 19, 1954 in Watervliet to Harold Hurd and Leona (Covell) Roden. Robert was an avid outdoorsman. In his younger years, he often spent weekend living off the land, and as he grew older, spent his time hunting and fishing. His grandson will miss their frequent chats about edible mushrooms.
Robert is survived by his wife of 22 year, Anna (Bristol) Hurd; his children, Robert Hurd II, Violet Saline, Lee (Heather) Hurd, Marsha (Anthony) Richtmyre, Alex Wight, and Kevin Wight; 23 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and his siblings, James Hurd, Kathy (Terry) McNett, Sue Callahan, and Billy Roden.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Douglas Saline; his siblings, Harold Jr., and Earon Roden; his step-father, Hank Roden; and his parents.
