Robert G. “Bob” Gettig, Jr. 64, of Niles, Michigan passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2022, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, December 1, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Bob was born August 22, 1958, in Benton Harbor, to Robert and Frances (Floyd) Gettig, Sr. He was a Thunder Mountain man who grew up and spent a lot of his time in Covert with his friends and family. Bob was a hard-working man; he drove a garbage truck for over 30 years before his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and loved race-cars. Bob was known for his kind and generous heart; he would help anyone who needed it. Bob loved to cook dinner for his friends and family and made the best ribs. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandkids.
Bob is survived by his, partner in life, Denise (Bradford/Mays) Gettig; children, Marc (Emily) Cole, Paul (Rochelle) Gettig, Suzanne (Jason) DeBortoli, Stacey (Bradley) Rock and John (Coty) Gettig; grandchildren, Renee, Alysa, Kayla, Riley, Devin, Maysen, Nathan, Lucas, Tyler, Emma, Bella, Caelyn, Annibelle, Jaxon, Mackenzie, Amelia, Oliver and Madison; siblings, Robin Stossivich, David Gettig, Michael Gettig, Sheila (Dave) Stamper, Tina Horton, Mary Gettig and Rebecca Gettig; and his fur daughter, Annie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Gettig, Sr. and Frances Gettig; brother-in-law, Orie Stossivich; niece, Jackie Lynn Gettig and Nephew, Dell Griffin.
