Richard "Dick"'s Obituary
Richard “Dick” Tropp, 90, of Berrien Springs, passed away at home Wednesday, November 13, 2024. He was born on June 16, 1934, to Robert and Elizabeth (Meyer) Tropp Berrien Springs. Dick married Ellen Kay Rudell on August 3, 1964, and they spent 45 years together until her passing in December of 2009.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Starks and Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. Burial will take place on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs. For a more lasting memory, donations in Dick’s name can be made to either the American Cancer Society or Paws of Hope. Dick graduated from Berrien Springs High School and then went on to proudly serve in the United States Army. He worked for National Standard, as a factory worker for over 33 years retiring in 1996. Then continued farming the family farm where he was born. He was known for his seasonal U-Pick grapes and his famous dill pickles. Dick was also fond of fishing and hunting. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving children, Susan Tropp of Berrien Springs, Dale Tropp (Penelope Wood) of Bella Vista, Arkansas; sisters, Marie Wregglesworth and Joyce Smallidge; and brother, Robert Tropp Jr. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen; his parents; and sisters, Wanda Wood and Pat Smith.
