Richard's Obituary
Richard Wayne Lange, age 76, of South Haven, Michigan passed away at his home with his loving daughters and sister by his side on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Richard (Rick) Wayne Lange was born on September 9, 1948. He was one of two children born to Wayne A. and Edith Elaine (Shugrue) Lange, growing up in Bangor, MI. He often spoke of fond memories growing up in a small town with close knit neighborhood friends and families. Rick attended Bangor High School, where he played baseball and basketball, graduating with the class of 1967. After graduation, Rick furthered his education at Davenport College of Business where he majored in real estate and insurance, graduating in 1969.
He then received two insurance designations from classes taken at Michigan State University. Following his education, Rick joined the family business in 1970, known as South Haven Insurance Services today. He became the vice president in 1975. After his father’s sudden passing, Rick took over the family business in 1978 and served as president for 35 years.
An avid outdoorsman, Rick loved hunting, fishing and boating. Rick could often be found spending time on the beautiful waters of west Michigan in the summers. Once fall came, he would hunt with his beloved English Setter and childhood best friend, Bob Faberski. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, Rick was a very active member of the community. He was member of several organizations including the South Haven Chamber of Commerce, South Haven Kiwanis Club, National Blueberry Festival, South Haven Yacht Club, Rod & Gun Club, Singapore Yacht Club and a big supporter of the South Haven Junior Youth League.
His passing was preceded by his parents; Wayne A. and Edith Elaine Lange and son; Jeffery Scott Lange.
To cherish Rick’s memory, he leaves two beautiful daughters: Jennifer (Jon) Dorow of South Haven, Michigan and Stephanie (Joel) McCloughan of South Haven, Michigan; one sister: Renee (Bill) Richardson; five grandchildren: Ryan (Macy) Dorow, Mallory Dorow, Jared (Lizbeth) McCloughan, Brandon McCloughan and Caleb McCloughan; three great grandchildren: Riley and Mason Dorow and Luciana McCloughan.
Friends and family may pay their respects at Hope Church 1365 Monroe Blvd in South Haven, MI. with a visitation from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. A Funeral Service celebrating Richard Wayne Lange will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Hope Church. Rick will be laid to rest at Hoppin Cemetery, Bangor, MI.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the South Haven Junior Youth League or Rod & Gun Club youth programs in Rick’s honor would be greatly appreciated.
