Dick's Obituary
He was born on August 8, 1941, in Dowagiac, the son of Dick and Alice (Woraksie) Casey and was a 1959 graduate of Dowagiac Union High School. Following graduation, Dick joined the US Air Force serving his country until his honorable discharge. Upon returning from the military, Dick went to work with his father in the family business, Casey Tool and Die. On July 22, 1967, he was united in marriage to Katherine Krieg. Dick later bought the business from his father in 1976. He proudly owned and operated Casey Tool and Die until his retirement in 2018. Dick was a member of Dowagiac Elks Lodge #889 and Dowagiac VFW Post #1855. He enjoyed lake life where he was often boating and water skiing.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years – Katherine Casey; son – Thomas (Paula) Casey; two grandsons – Connor and Colin Casey; brother-in-law – Jim Smith; and niece – Sara Smith.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sister – JoAnne Smith.
A service to celebrate Dick’s life, followed by military honors, will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, Dec. 21, at Clark Chapel – Starks Family Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 405 Center St, Dowagiac, where friends may visit with the family from 1:00-2:00 PM. Fr. Joseph Abraham will officiate. Memorial contributions in Dick’s memory may be directed to Wounded Warrior Project. Those wishing to share a memory of Dick online may do so at www.clarkch.com.
