Raymond “Ray” Maruk, 79, of Stevensville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Corewell Health after a lengthy illness.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 14, 2025 at Starks Heritage Chapel and Cremation Service, 8747 US 31, Berrien Springs, MI 49103. Friends may visit with the family from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., Friday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs. Ray was born August 22, 1945 in International Falls, Minn to John & Arlene (Clark) Maruk. Ray graduated from Berrien Springs High School in 1963. He worked at Clark Equipment until they closed, then Modern Plastics and Sumatech. In 1982 he owned and operated The Donut Hut in Berrien Springs until he sold it in 1989. He then went to work at Alro Steel and retired in 2008. In 1992 he married Barbara Gray.
Ray loved Corvettes, taking long drives, listening to country music, cooking, and entertaining many family and friends in his home.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Gray Maruk; children Mike (Laurie) Maruk, Lorrie (Don) Upson, Sheri (Geoff) Sanderson, Julie Maruk, Tara (Greg) Schultz, Mark Gray and Adam Gray; 15 grandchildren James, Katelynn, Mikayla, Jasmine and Larissa Maruk, Jonathan Upson, Maggie (Josh) Upson-Bullock, Erika (Curtis) Brotherston, Emily (Jared) Bucher Erinn Sanderson, Tiffany Costner and Rachel Smith, Kelsi Cobb and John & Jake Gray;7 great grandchildren Emilia, Jackson, Theodore, Levi Upson-Bullock, Scarlett Costner, Arlina Shafer and Bella Donna Sanderson. ; sister Pat (Don) Geiger and 2 nieces Wendy (Jamie) Laughlin and Traci (Joey) Haskins; and nephew Scott (Kelly Bauer) Geiger.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Robert Meade, sister Tina Flagel and nephew Tim Flagel; and three close cousins Floyd Sanders, Dave Clark and Joe Nyborg.
