Phyllis May Dewey, 103, of Dowagiac, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Harvest Home in Berrien Springs.

Phyllis was born October 7, 1918, in Hillsdale, MI, to Roy and Cora (Rodlam) Howard. She attended and graduated from Jonesville Community Public Schools. After high school, Phyllis attended Pontiac Business Institute. She was a member of the Jonesville Alumni Association, Presbyterian church of Jonesville, and the Baptist Church of Berrien Springs. Phyllis married her first husband, the late Robert Cole who she had four children with. On February 7, 1992, she married Lester Dewey who also preceded her in death. Phyllis enjoyed the simple things in life, she liked jewelry and flowers, but most of all loved her family.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Sybil (Aroy) Brady, Dorothy Gassaway and Richard (Sera) Thompson; grandchildren, Tracie Rosenthal and Patrick Brady; great-grandchildren, Livinia Rosenthal, Charlie Rosenthal, Abigail Kennedy, Violet Kennedy, and Tucker Kennedy. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester Dewey; daughter, Rhoda Schaffer; brothers, Charles Howard and Roy Howard; former spouses, Robert Cole and Orval Scoggin.
