Peter Alan Bell, 63, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at his home in Grand Rapids.
Peter was born on May 13, 1961, in Connecticut to Frederick and Margaret (Sumners) Bell.
Pete was an avid gamer who loved card games (especially Texas Hold 'Em), dice games, board games, and video games. When he wasn’t gaming with his children or his fellow residents at his retirement home, he enjoyed spending time in nature canoeing or fishing. He was a social butterfly who easily made friends wherever life took him, and he loved making everyone he met smile and laugh. Those who knew Pete knew him for his goofy sense of humor and silly, but wise, life quotes.
As a career Ironworker of Local 340, he took pride in his work for more than 35 years, often pointing out to his children all the buildings he helped construct around western Michigan. He continued to work until he retired late in his 50's.
Surviving are his children - Daniel Bell of Beijing, China, and Kay (Jack) Powell of Grand Rapids; siblings – Mark Bell of Lafayette, Indiana, Ann McGee of Dowagiac, and Paul Moss of Dowagiac; uncles - Kenney Bell of Dowagiac, and Ernie Bell of Dowagiac; and cousin – Ricky Bell.
Preceding him in death were his parents - Frederick & Margaret; former spouse and mother of his children – Pamela Sampson; and uncle – Lloyd Bell.
In accordance with his final wishes, Peter has been cremated. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 9 at Clark Chapel and Cremation Services – Starks Family Funeral Homes, 405 Center St, Dowagiac, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
