Penny Ann Whetstone, 67, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023 at home.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Newell Chapel, 83313 M51, Decatur, MI with Pastor Jim Abshagen officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior, from 10-11 also at the funeral home. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.newellchapel.com.
Penny was born on December 13, 1955, in South Bend, IN., to Howard and Edna (Fisher) Nichols. On December 27, 1985, she married Jerry Whetstone in Buchanan. Penny enjoyed gardening and bird watching, also camping in her younger years. She especially loved exploring garage sales, flea markets and fishing with her husband.
Penny is survived by her husband of 38 years, Jerry Whetstone; son, Lou “Michael” (Therese) Poplar, Jr.; grandson, Zachary Poplar; and brothers, Scott (Laura) Nichols, Dennis (Bob Perry) Cluckey and Dane Cluckey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Edna Nichols; and sisters, Pat Morris, Paulette Clark.
