Patricia Mary Dynes, 72, of Galien, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Corewell Health, Lakeland St. Joseph, with her family by her side.
A celebration of life service will be held at 5 pm on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan. Visitation will take place two hours prior, from 3-5 pm. Memorial contributions in Patti’s name may be made to We Can Ride 4-H Club or Best Friends 4-H Club. Those wishing to leave a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com.
Patti was born on May 15, 1951, in St. Joseph, MI. She graduated from St. Joseph High School, class of 1969. On September 25, 1971, she married the love of her life, David E. Dynes.
Patti had a profound passion for horses, and alongside David, she dedicated over five decades to raising them. Her commitment extended to the Berrien County 4-H community, where she served as a 4H leader for over 30 years, actively participating in various programs. Notably, she played a significant role in the We Can Ride 4H Club and Best Friends 4-H Club, both focused on anybody with disabilities, offering them opportunities to learn to ride horseback or engage in dog handling, training, and ownership. Patti was also an active member of the Galien Lions Club for many years.
Known for her compassionate nature, she devoted 11 years to foster care, leaving a positive impact on many lives. Professionally, Patti served many years as an EMT and in 1991, she established Lettuce Duit in Galien, a complete source for ribbons, tiaras, sashes, trophies, plaques and more which is still in operation today. Her love continued to show through her business and the way she operated it. Patti also enjoyed history, especially the Civil War, and took her nearly yearly trips to Gettysburg.
Above all, Patti treasured her family and poured her energy into loving everyone around her. Her legacy will endure through the love and generosity she shared with those fortunate enough to have known her.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 52 years, David E. Dynes; children, Angie Lee, Tina (Samuel) Gardner, Ceaser Dynes, David R. Dynes, Christie Bates, Anna Goodman, Heather Nelson, Marta Dynes, Marty Dynes, Brittany Dynes and Jordan Dynes; grandsons she raised, Joshua and David Marshall and many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and adopted children. She was preceded in death by her mother, Enid (Jack) Savely (Kerlikowski); father, Bob Hansley and daughter, Holly Dynes.
