Oscar Zwar, 96, of St. Joseph, MI passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Spectrum Health Lakeland in St. Joseph.
Per Oscar’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services at this time. Memorials may be made to Caring Circle Hospice. Those wishing to share a memory of Oscar online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com
Oscar was born April 22, 1925 in Sodus, MI to Heinrich & Emeila (Rahn) Zwar. Oscar served his country in the United States Navy from January 29, 1944 until May 11, 1946. On January 25, 1947 he married Martha Edelberg in Benton Harbor, MI. Oscar worked for Whirlpool Corporation for over 40 years as a machine repairman. He also was a Bus Driver for St. Joseph Public Schools and ran many small business repair shops for various items over the years. A devoted Christian, he would always read his Bible every day. His family gave him the greatest joy, especially the many fishing trips up north, and traveling the world with his son. Being the proud dad that he was, he helped his son Ron, whenever he was needed at Zwartec Displays.
Oscar is survived by his wife Martha Zwar; children Kathleen Zwar, Diane Zwar-Swain, Ronald (Lori) Zwar and Mary Sue Zwar; grandchildren Michael Swain, Rachael (Keith) Swearingen, Rebecca (Kyle) Howard, Matthew (Carla) Minzghor and Kaylee (Tommy) Gratsch; and nine great grandchildren. Oscar was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters and three brothers.
